Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Semir started to play bass guitar in his early teens. At the age of 16 he was already playing for several different genres of music from progressive metal to alternative rock. Due to local tastes not meshing with what he wanted to do as a musician he decided to move to the United States. Semir has been living in Texas for 8 years now and is playing for two bands at the moment; progressive doom outfit Oceans of Slumber( Houston, TX, signed to Century Media), and melodic death metal quintet Nahaya (San Antonio, TX) of whom he is a founding member. Semir is currently endorsed by ESP guitars, and he has used GHS (4 and 5 string Bass Boomers) strings for the last 2 years and fell in love with the quality of them.
