The Bootstrap Boys make straight up, cut anad dried country music. Lead man, Big Jake Bootstrap, came up through the regular channels of church-house to honky-tonk, pickin' up a love for Jesus, a sweet harmony, the twang of a telecaster and a shot of whiskey on the way.
The Boys specialize in a pleasurably sparse take on traditional country music that highlights what they do best: solid songwriting, pretty singing, and hot licks on an electric guitar. With influences as detailed and extensive as a Ken Burns film, the Boys distill their love for traditional bluegrass, contemporary radio country, 90s country hits, neo-traditionalists of today and yesterday, pop songs through the ages, gospel tunes, and funeral songs into a 90-proof style that stays sweet all teh way down.
Expect thoughtful lyrics, twangy tunes, rich vocals, and killer guitar solos, a mix of Saturday night and Sunday morning music.
People who like the Bootstrap Boys also tend to like Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Margo Price, Jason Isbell, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, etc.. Big Jake's biggest influences are Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Waylon & Willie and the boys, Neil Young, John Prine and Steve Earle.
The Bootstrap Boys are: Big Jake Bootstrap (acoustic guitar, lead vox, songwriter), Nicky Bootstrap (hot licks on electric guitar, high sweet harmonies, sometimes lap steel), Jeff Bootstrap (drums, banjo but you have to talk him into it, harmony vox), and Jonny Bootstrap (bass, the new guy).
